TV network design template
Whilst TV signals can be distributed over IP TV networks they need quite a lot of bandwidth and it is usually more cost-effective to install a TV signal distribution system using co-ax cables feeding conventional digital TVs. Both Freeview and Freesat offer up to 200 channels and with a suitable decoder provide a programme guide, recording and a catch-up function.
A single co-ax cable can be used for Freeview TV, Freesat, FM radio and DAB. Freeview is preferable to Freesat because Freesat relies on a 22kHz tone generator in the Freesat receiver to switch to the correct signal from the dish for the particular satellite channel being viewed.
This design template for a small 20-point TV distribution system is based on the Antiference AMS720S 20-way multi-switch.
